A Reason NOT to Love ElevatorsSubmitted by Barbara M. I just thought of another story about Michael which all my friends got hysterical about. This is on me. A large group of fans went to Chicago in Oct 92 for the final performances of Michael in The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber. We all stayed at the same hotel; Michael was also staying there. We used to congregate to see him leave for the theatre and of course waited for him to return in the evening after the show. Michael had to pass through the lobby and turn right down a small hall where about 4 elevators were. This particular evening I was standing facing the lobby with my back to the elevator hall. I was deep in conversation with the Stage Manager about Michael's first performance in Concord. All my friends were gathered around the lobby, waiting of course to see Michael pass by. (The poor man - all these women gawking at him all the time!) Well, all of a sudden, my friends start calling my name and I say, "What do you want?" They said,"Your JUST missed Michael. He crossed RIGHT in front of you and walked to the elevator. " I must say that I almost died at that point! Well, to top it all off, one of my friends got a picture of this happening at the moment it was happening. I will describe it: I am standing facing the camera with my hand on my forehead (sort of like slapping it), mouth open, and to my right, you can see the back of Michael as he passes by me. I don't think I will ever live that one down. But, "these things do happen." Incidentally, I used this picture for my
Christmas card that year!! (Also sent one to Michael!)
