A Hero at Coconut's

Submitted by Danielle

I had known about the signing for a while so I had a while to build my excitement on the bus ride and waiting 3 hours outside Coconut's. We finally were let inside at like 10 of 5 and waited for him. When he arrived among much applause the woman who won the meeting with Michael went downstairs and hung out with him. I guess the store people were really pushy to him and they never really got to chat since they were too busy taking pictures and none of her alone with him. When he came back up stair he came through the back and had body guards with him. He looked adorable with a white shirt like the one on his new CD along with a black jacket and pants. Everyone went awwwwwwwwwhhhhhhhhh when he walked up to the podium and got pictures with the people working there. I was like 10th in line and Abby was comforting Jess who was freaking out so she went way, way ahead of me and I got a picture of her and him smiling at her. When I got up there this nice woman took my CD cover and handed it to him. I had rehearsed over and over out loud what I was going to say to him but by now I was sweating bullets, hiving, getting blotchy, and my heart was pounding in my chest. I had never met anyone I truly admired before. Now I know what he felt like when he met Gene Kelly. As the sales lady lead me to him I was like OMIGOD OMIGOD OMIGOD!!! She introduced me to him. I said "Hi (really cute baby like), Omigod!!!! I love you. You're my hero. You're so awesome." Something like that. I had my hand at my throat and heart while I was still holding the stuff I brought to give him. He was looking down so when he looked up he just smiled at me. I don't think he was ready for my scary outcry of emotion. I had debated whether I should bring my eyes I drew up with me and I'm glad I was because knowing me I would have seriously regretted it. I said to him while I was staring at his eyes not hands like most people do. "I wanted you to sign this so I thought I'd show it to you. I didn't want them (the guards) to get mad at me." He looked around and signed it really fast and said, "Here you go" His voice was so soft and reassuring. I can see why people melt in front of him. I can't believe he was this soft-spoken but so loud on stage. He looked up and me and since I was hiving I thought he was concerned so I said, "I'm so incredibly nervous" which I was. Michael said, "Please don't be nervous. Nothing to be nervous about. Are you going to the concert?" "Ya," I said ingeniously but with excitement. My mom went awwwwwwwe as he signed my drawing. He looked up at me again and I just smiled and we stared at each other for like 7 seconds. "Meeting you has been the biggest dream of mine." Then he smiled some more and I handed him, saying "Oh! These are for you," my pile of stuff: capricorn card, big card, picture of box 5, and a photo of me holding my drawings, then the Coconuts people shooed me out of there so the next person could talk to him. I was now on the world's biggest high.
