A Surprising Request and a Mic ProblemSubmitted by Anonymous I saw Michael during the summer, when he came to town. (I was in row seven!
And I was in seventh heaven when he walked out on that stage.) As most of you
who have seen his concert know, at the end he gives an encore of "Papa Can
You Hear Me?/ A Piece of Sky." Well, this theater is outdoors. (I live in
Florida. Note this is the middle of summer). He asked the audience, "Do you want
another song?" Of course we all said yes. Some woman yelled, "Ten more!" He
looked at her with wide eyes. "Ten?!" he asked her. "I don't know...it's kind-
of hot out here..." (He still wore a suit despite the unbearable heat) She
interrupted him: "Take it off!" she screamed. He dosen't seem to know our kind-
of slang. So he asked in a perfect British voice, "Take it off?" The audience
laughed hystericaly at him. Then he grined understanding what she said. He
replied, "This isn't the Jerry Springer Show....(he and audience laughs)...I'm
sorry my dear...(laughs)...but I can't do that." You should have heard the way
he said that. It was a had to be there moment.
Also during this concert, the microphone went dead. (Poor Michael!) He and Dale
Kristien were singing "The Phantom of the Opera." So far, the concert was
going as it should've. But when Michael sung "...in all your fanasties, you
always knew , that man and mystery..." Dale was suppose to take over, but we
didn't hear anything except the backround music. We saw her lips moving, but
that was it. They sung that way for a moment, until Michael noticed something
was wrong. He did his little Phantom walk over to her and quickly changed
their mics, because the song was where she was suppose to be vocalising.
After the song, Michael turned away from us, messing with the mic. Then he
turned back and said in a shaky voice, "Hello?" We all laughed. It was a delightful show.
