1991 Am Los Angeles Show:

Michael said he was not awake when he went into the studio, but when he walked out to the yelling women he was awake then.

MC tells how he had to get used to using a microphone before he did the show. He was leaving Phantom in LA because his daughter Lucy had told him she was graduating in May; but when he arrived home he found out she was not graduating until July. He said he was glad she wasn't taking math. She got upset with him, because the story got all over England and her teacher called and said she would no longer be needed as the secretary of the student union.

Then in the same interview he told the story about the ALW MOTN tour. He came to Los Angeles a week early to practice using a microphone (in Phantom the microphone was in his makeup). He had to get used to the new toy in his life, his microphone. He said it was like the girl in Singing in the Rain. He gave a demonstration of holding the microphone in his hands and moving his head back and forth. He would keep the microphone in front of him and move his head. So he would be singing, but you wouldn't hear anything!
