The Patrol Division of the Union County Sheriff's Office is responsible for answering calls for service, patrolling an area of 516 square miles, serving Civil Process, the serving of Criminal Warrants, and the transportation of prisoners and Mental Patients to the proper facilities within the State.

The shifts are composed of a Sergeant, Corporal and two Deputies. Their shift schedule is 8:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m. for 28 days and 8:00 p.m.-8:00 a.m. for 28 days. The shifts are 12 hours in length and a Patrol Deputy works 14 days in a 28 day cycle.

The Patrol Division has three sub-divisions. The D.A.R.E. program, for which we provide a Uniform Lieutenant in the elementary schools each day; the Family Court which we provide two Uniformed Deputies which are responsible for Family Court Security and the service of all Family Court notices, orders, and warrants; and the Reserve Deputy Division which is composed of a Lieutenant, a Sergeant, and seven Deputies. The Reserves work with the full time Deputies to assist them as needed. Reserves are used when special events are scheduled such as parades, ball games, dances, or security details requiring a Law Enforcement presence, or sickness in the Sheriff's Office requires additional manpower.
